The Time to Cut The Cord Has Arrived!

High cable prices and exorbitant satellite rates have finally crossed the line into the realm of the ridiculous. Yet, many of us continue to pay these costs because television service, and "having something on to watch" has become a near necessity in today's world. I recently joined the ranks of the Cord-Cutters - a quickly growing segment of society that has shunned the cable and satellite companies and has instead opted to stream content wirelessly via the internet. I couldn't be more happy with the choice, and I believe that others would opt for this change if they knew how easy and effective it is! This site is dedicated to providing that information, along with links to necessary equipment and content sites, so that we can once and for all remove the confusion for those who want to take this step. Enjoy!

What's new in the world of cord cutting?

Quite a few things!  I've been away a bit so thought I'd share a few of them.  Big news, big news!  :)

1. Samsung's CableCARD box coming soon!
2. Amazon coming out with a streaming device?
3. Netflix coming to cable boxes?

Interesting stuff!  As far as #1 goes, well, I just miss the Boxee.  If you remember, Samsung purchased them in July, and has assimilated their technology to get into the streaming game.  Boxee made good stuff - here's to hoping Samsung does the same.

For #2, I'm intrigued.  I think Amazon makes a good product, and they obviously have a stake in the race with Amazon Prime Streaming.  It'll be interesting to see what their new box looks like, what it can do, and how it compares with some of the other major players (i.e.: Roku, AppleTV, PS3, etc.).  Looking forward to this one.

And finally #3: All I can say is, what's the point?  I guess I just don't understand folks who pay good money for cable.  That said, anything that will help Netflix grow is (I guess) a good thing.  Interested to see how this one turns out.

Here's to you, Cord Cutters!  :)
